After graduating from Yildiz Technical University, Faculty of Education Department of Educational Sciences, she consecutively obtained the graduate degrees of master and doctorate at the same university`s Department of Curriculum and Instruction, Social Sciences Institute. Since 2005, she has been working as a lecturer at Yildiz Technical University, Department of Educational Sciences. She has also been working as a coordinator and consultant on national and international projects for "teacher training" and has projects that she is currently pursuing. Altun published three books in the field of education, many articles in Turkish and English and full text proceedings. She has conducted workshops and a number of seminars for teachers, administrators and parents in the fields of "school-based program development models", "instructional design", “UbD”, "measurement and evaluation", "methods and techniques", "curriculum development", "learning and teaching relationship" in private and public schools. In recent years Altun has especially focused on school development models. She believes that the models, developed and implemented in schools by teachers who are involved in the process, will lead to success. She has been doing the coordinatorship of a study community named “Designer Teacher” which she and her colleagues founded with this object in mind.
